School Module: Trauma Responsive Support

Needs Statement


The majority of children have experienced at least one traumatic event by age 16. Adolescents who are experiencing traumatic stress need supportive environments and instruction. This module will illustrate how to create a help an adolescent who is experiencing traumatic stress participate in athletics.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course includes high school coaches and other athletics personnel. 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify signs of traumatic stress.
  2. Identify trauma-responsive instructional and classroom management strategies.
